About

The KUBO Story

Kubo or “Bahay Kubo” means hut or six sided form.  In the Filipino culture it is the vernacular architecture found throughout many parts of the Philippines.   The  Kubo is  typically constructed of bamboo and elevated to address the climate found throughout the region.  It  is a familiar structure known to be light and flexible to withstand the storms found in the region.  For Kubo Studio, this represents our cultural roots.  As first generation Filipino Americans we recognize the impact our culture has and  how  it  has  formed the values and passion of  how  we work.

Our values start with the people.  The families that our work supports, the people we collaborate with, the people who will experience and use the spaces we create, and the people who support us  -  we recognize that without the people we are surrounded by, our work has no meaning.

The work our people create  for  the  people  that  utilize  the  environments  we  create   is crafted with the utmost care.
